President Barack Obama met with New York Gov. David Paterson on Monday, soon after news broke that the White House was pressuring Paterson to bow out of next year's governor's race. Meanwhile, supporters of Paterson met in Manhattan to consider Paterson's political future. "If the president of the United States says that 'I think this is probably going to be tough for you and maybe not in everyone's best interest,' that's when people stop and say, 'How do we deal with this?'" said one person with knowledge of the meeting.
