GPS provider Garmin responds to mobile competition

With its satnav device business threatened by smartphone applications, Garmin is fighting back by releasing new products that mix mobile-phone functions -- including the ability to make voice calls -- with state-of-the-art location-finding features, the company said. Among the new devices is an in-car system that will offer wireless Internet service using AT&T's EDGE network.
