Lawmakers may extend transportation funding system

The House of Representatives this week is expected to extend the current system for funding road and other transportation projects until next year. Analysts say the debate over health care reform has taken the focus off of a $500 billion bill that would cover highway and public transit construction and repair. Associated General CEO Stephen E. Sandherr noted that short-term extensions create uncertainty in the marketplace. "It takes away states' ability to plan," he noted.
