Construction starts creep higher in August

New construction starts rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $433.6 billion in August, a 6% gain, according to McGraw-Hill Construction. The increase was led by nonbuilding construction, including public works and electric utilities, and partially offset by slippage in nonresidential construction.
