Europe launches a 5-year gender-equality strategy

The European Commission is supporting a five-year strategy to drive gender equality and says the effort will boost economic and social initiatives. "I have not been an advocate of quotas for women in senior business posts in the past, but given the lack of progress in this area, we might in the future have to consider taking initiatives at the European level," EU justice commissioner Viviane Reding said.
