Illinois commits $79M to freight railroad upgrades

Illinois plans to spend $79 million to improve freight railroads in the state. Projects include a grade separation project, crossing closures and extension of a BNSF Railway mainline. Additionally, work will be done to separate tracks for Amtrak and freight trains. All the work is being done in the Galesburg region.
