Twitter worm leads to an epidemic of infected tweets

A Twitter worm spread rapidly Tuesday as hackers figured out how to insert malicious JavaScript into tweets. The code, which could be triggered by rolling a mouse cursor over the infected tweet, redirected users to external sites and in some cases automatically forwarded itself to an infected account's followers. The security flaw underpinning the attack was apparently discovered by a Norwegian programmer, and it was quickly exploited by malicious hackers.
