Wineries turn traditional harvest dinners into public affairs

Vintners and their hardworking crews have long celebrated the end of harvest season with a private dinner. Now, many wineries are expanding the tradition, creating pay-per-plate versions of the events that are open to the public. "People really want to have a special experience," says Chris Hall, proprietor of Long Meadow Ranch Winery & Farmstead, which will hold its harvest dinner to raise money for charity.
