Center aims to improve doctor-patient relationship

Carolyn Bucksbaum and her late husband Matthew are donating $42 million to the University of Chicago Medical Center to create a center to teach medical students good doctor-patient relationship skills. The Bucksbaum Institute for Clinical Excellence will emphasize that compassion and empathy are as important as science and technology, says Dr. Mark Siegler, who will lead the institute.
