Risk managers can learn from this year's disasters, Hartwig says

Natural catastrophes in the first half of this year have resulted in record-high losses, giving risk managers an opportunity to evaluate coverage and address supply-chain disruption and other issues, according to Insurance Information Institute President Robert Hartwig. "What we probably had with the Japanese earthquake and tsunami is the largest single business-continuity issue we've had in the modern history of insurance, probably superseding what happened post-9/11," Hartwig said.
