Tunneling to be completed for $4.45B NYC subway's first phase

New York City's Second Avenue Subway project has faced many challenges, but tunneling for the first phase of the project is set to finish today. A massive boring machine has excavated two tunnels 29 blocks long during the past 16 months. Work has started on blasting out caverns for the three stations that will form part of the $4.45 billion project.
