Schools in Sioux City, Iowa, are stepping up efforts to combat childhood obesity through physical-education programs and serving healthful foods in cafeterias. At Spalding Park Elementary School, PE teacher Kyle Lewis has students climbing a rock wall and participating in other games and activities designed to engage them in an active lifestyle as they grow. In addition, 11 of the district's elementary schools are utilizing a federal grant to introduce students to more fruits and vegetables, such as mangoes and kale.
