Minn. pilots teacher evaluations in 17 districts

Seventeen school districts in Minnesota are piloting a new teacher-evaluation system, which ties educators' scores to student achievement, classroom work and surveys designed to measure student engagement in classroom lessons. While teachers support the evaluations, said Denise Specht, president of the state teachers union, there is concern about the availability of training. The union has partnered with the Minnesota School Boards Association to offer professional development to teachers and administrators.
