Research ties PPI use to increased C. diff risk

A study revealed proton pump inhibitor use may be associated with increased risk of Clostridium difficile infection among hospitalized patients. Researchers said patients without prior hospitalization who used PPIs for more than two days had greater odds of developing the condition, while patients hospitalized within the past 30 days who used PPIs for more than one day also showed greater risk of infection.
