FDA considers rule governing cow products in U.S. vaccines, drugs

The FDA is considering a new rule designed to ensure that U.S.-made vaccines and animal drugs, both of which usually contain bovine products, are clear of BSE that is showing up in some Japanese cows. The agency's acting director of vaccine research and review told a group of drugmakers protections against possible contamination are in the works, but did not disclose specifics.
