Governments neglecting cardiovascular risks of childhood obesity, says group

With overweight children being three- to five-times more likely to suffer a premature heart attack or stroke when they become adults, efforts to prevent heart disease should have greater focus on the rising rates of childhood obesity, said the World Heart Federation. The group, which is launching a campaign on the issue on Sunday, accused governments of ignoring the 17 million deaths from cardiovascular illness every year.
