Modified 747s will transport 7E7 parts, Boeing says

Boeing will modify several 747-400 passenger jets to fly components for its 7E7 project from suppliers in Asia and Europe to its Everett, Wash., plant, an official said yesterday. Mike Bair, senior vice president of Boeing's 7E7 program, also said the advanced composite materials that will be used in the new long-range jet are "almost impervious to the type of daily damage aluminum endures."
