Study: Exercise, protein intake yield most fat loss

A study reported in the Journal of Nutrition that weighed the effects of exercise in combination with high-protein or high-carbohydrate diets found protein eaters tend to lose mostly fat while higher carbohydrate consumption is associated with a loss of fat and muscle. The study, funded in part by the beef and dairy industries, involved 48 women, but the study author said the findings may well be applicable to men.
