U.S.: Chemo not included in emergency care for illegal immigrants

The federal government has ordered New York state health officials to disqualify chemotherapy coverage under a provision of Medicaid that allows for emergency medical care for illegal immigrants. "Longstanding interpretations by the agency have been that emergency Medicaid benefits are to cover emergencies," a CMS official said, and The New York Times reports the move may lead to debate over defining medical emergencies.
