Applications in for DOT large project stimulus grants

The Department of Transportation has received at least $9.3 billion worth of requests from states, cities, counties and other jurisdictions for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grants, according to a media report. The TIGER grants, which are part of the stimulus package, will be awarded for projects that will have a "significant impact on the nation, a metropolitan area or a region." The amount requested by states vastly exceeds the $1.5 billion designated for the grants.
