Aviation industry braces for emissions regulations

U.S. aviation officials are looking at ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel efficiency ahead of environmental regulations by the government. The European Union is drafting a schedule of emissions fees on commercial and other aircraft that will be implemented by 2012. "If the U.S. and EU lead, and I anticipate the Obama administration will want the U.S. to lead, it will be very challenging for the U.S. aviation industry," said Peter Bunce, president of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
