Scottish education secretary announces plans for revised assessments

Scotland's education secretary has announced a plan to assess the country's students in reading and maths every other year. Fiona Hyslop told educators that the student assessments would not be administered in 2010, returning in 2011 after they had been revised. "The new assessment system will provide a broader and more challenging measure of attainment and a more rigorous approach to quality assurance," Hyslop said.
