FDNY aims to repair leaking roofs on 12 buildings

The New York Fire Department seeks to repair the leaking roofs on 12 of its buildings in the historic area of Fort Totten to protect their facilities before winter arrives. The agency has permission from the city Landmarks Preservation Commission to temporarily replace slate tiles with asphalt or faux-slate shingles that cost less.
