Apple halted its App Store rankings for eight hours Friday without explanation, something it typically does only during holiday sales, Sarah Perez writes. When it resumed, the picture was decidedly different, with "historically highly ranked apps dropping 10 spots instead of one, while other previously ranked top 20 apps are unable to achieve ranks higher than 40," Perez notes. After the sale of 9 million Apple iPhone 5c and 5s models in its opening weekend, the company says 200 million devices now run the iOS 7 operating system. That's good news for iTunes Radio, which gathered 11 million listeners at its U.S.-only launch weekend, Darrell Etherington writes.
