Bill calls for standard food label with more nutrition data

A federal legislative proposal introduced on Friday would create a new standard front-of-pack label to include nutrition data that sponsors say will help consumers make healthier choices. The Food Labeling Modernization Act would define the terms "healthy" and "natural," require additional disclosure of sugar content as well as caffeine amounts more than 10 milligrams, and require that whole-grain claims include the percentage of whole grain in a product.
