During a panel presentation at last week's ASTA Global Convention in Miami, Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises; Kevin Sheehan, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line; and Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking Cruises, offered their opinions on the direction the cruise industry is taking amid the rise of new market segments and the growth of onboard amenities. Their views sometimes differed, particularly on the question of all-inclusive pricing, but all agreed that travel agents were the strongest sales channel available to cruise lines. "The role of the travel agent is very robust in the cruise industry. The agent remains a dominant force for all of us," Fain said.
