Mobile now accounts for half of Rakuten's business

Leading Japanese online retailer Rakuten is getting a boost from mobile commerce as it expands to reach its objective of becoming a fully integrated Internet service company. Rakuten says mobile now accounts for half its sales. "Our customers do not use a single device when making purchases. Approximately 50% of our customers use multiple devices (smart devices, tablets, PCs etc.)," global vice chief marketing officer Shin Hasegawa said.
