Oracle sees its future -- and it's in the cloud

Oracle sees a future of applications and services moving inexorably toward the cloud but won't force cloud adoption on customers as it announces new products and services during its annual conference this week. Among the first major announcements from Oracle include the ability for developers to use databases and Java tools in the cloud, preventing the need for on-site builds that are then uploaded to the cloud. "We've changed a lot of things bringing business transformation to the cloud," said Mark Hurd, Oracle's co-president.
