Preterm birth, larger babies tied to greater diabetes risk in women

A study in the CDC's Preventing Chronic Disease journal revealed women who had very preterm delivery, between 20 and 32 weeks, were 1.3 times as likely as those who had a full-term birth to develop type 2 diabetes. Women who delivered larger babies also faced greater odds of diabetes than those who gave birth to smaller babies, researchers noted.
