Promoting employee activity goes beyond treadmill desks

The "movement" movement, or getting workers in sedentary jobs to be more active during the day, is going beyond the treadmill desk as fitness equipment maker Hyperwear now sells Sandbells, sand-filled weights that can also be used as a paperweight, and weight vests, which add up to 10 pounds to help workers burn more calories while doing daily activities. Short but intense activity bursts or walking meetings can help boost alertness and work efficiency, and CEO Denver Fredenburg said people don't have to be fitness models, they just have to move and sweat a little.
