Study: Lymphoseek with SPECT/CT may boost ID of sentinel lymph nodes

A study published in JAMA Otolaryngology -- Head & Neck Surgery showed the imaging agent 99mTc-tilmanocept can help detect sentinel lymph nodes in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma ahead of surgery. SPECT/CT with 99mTc-tilmanocept, also known as Lymphoseek, outperformed planar lymphoscintigraphy in correctly identifying sentinel lymph nodes positive for metastases in patients who had metastatic neck disease.
