When your business starts to grow, the rush is amazing, but it could ruin you. Norm Brodsky, a veteran entrepreneur, saw it happen to him when his government-contracting firm blossomed and he got into M&A. "As a confirmed growth addict, I cared only about increasing the top line. I decided that government work was a waste of time and that I should concentrate instead on making acquisitions," he says. It ended badly.
