Glass panels to replace marble on Toronto skyscraper

The owners of the tallest office tower in Canada will replace the Italian white marble that covers the building with 7,800 panels of white glass. The owners of Toronto's First Canadian Place hope to recycle the marble, and they may crush it and sell it as "rooftop reflective ballast." The ballast is essentially white gravel that keeps roofs of office towers cool by reflecting sunlight.
