Health-reform discussion centers on taking money from Medicare

As the Senate Finance Committee worked its way through legislation to overhaul the U.S. health care system, the panel focused on the politically sensitive question of how much money to pull out of Medicare to pay for medical expenses of the entire nation. Democrats steadfastly defeated efforts by Republicans to put billions of dollars back into Medicare, then said they will come back later and restore much of the money to the program.
