Teachers: Rhee is targeting experienced educators for layoffs

A group of Washington, D.C., teachers who are worried about potential layoffs protested against schools Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee, saying she is trying to get rid of experienced educators. Rhee filled 900 teaching vacancies over the summer, but when funding was slashed, she said teacher layoffs would be announced by the end of the month. Rhee said she had not been expecting cuts to the district budget.
