School nutrition professionals learn to cook from scratch

School nutrition professionals in 21 counties in California recently participated in a two-day conference in which they received training in meal preparation, including cooking from scratch and buying locally grown food. Participants sampled chicken fajitas, curried chicken salad pita, summer chicken stew, vegetable biryani and cucumber raita, and will leave with recipes designed to serve between 50 and 100 students.
