Calif. bill allows, but restricts, distillery tastings

The California Legislature recently passed a bill that allows distilleries to operate paid tasting rooms. The bill changes a law that has been in effect since Prohibition, but still restricts distilleries more than their winemaking and beer-brewing counterparts by limiting tastings to six products per customer and continuing a ban on the direct sale of distillery products to customers. The bill awaits Gov. Jerry Brown's signature.
