Calif. professor to study gamma-ray radiation near black holes with NASA grant

NASA has given a Whittier College professor a $94,991 grant toward the study of gamma-ray radiation near black holes. Glenn Piner, who teaches astronomy and physics at the California school, will also be allowed 129 hours of observation time with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Very Long Baseline Array of radio telescopes to aid his study.
