Carriers should tout seat safety, Recaro chief says

Mark Hiller, the CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating, spoke at the recent APEX/IFSA EXPO event about seat safety and comfort. While physical comfort goes into making a seat, so do other aspects such as seat width and in-flight entertainment. When it comes to safety, that matters just as much if not more. "Nobody's doing marketing on safety, even though airline travel remains the safest way to travel. Even as we, as airline seat providers, spend more than one-third of our R&D budget on safety ... we aren't talking about it," he said.
