Companies turn to fixed-to-floating securities

Companies increasingly are using fixed-to-floating securities, raising $18.4 billion through the product so far in 2013, after raising $15.5 billion in all of 2012. "The market doesn't want fixed rates forever. Securities that are fixed rate in perpetuity have very high interest-rate risk," said William Scapell of Cohen & Steers.
