FDA says regulatory focus will not include most fitness apps

Fitness-related mobile applications are not on a list of apps the FDA will regulate, according to a draft proposal that says the agency will focus on apps that turn smartphones and tablets into de facto medical devices, such as an electrocardiography machine. Most health apps in the Google Play store and Apple's App Store will not come under FDA scrutiny.
