First Uruguay citrus shipments to hit U.S. next month

Citrus shippers in Uruguay will send a shipment of 100 metric tons of Valencia oranges to the U.S. in October, as a "test bench" for future citrus exports to the States, provided the plan receives final U.S. approval, said Federico Montes, citrus adviser for the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fishing. Future shipments would include mandarins and other orange varieties, he said.
