Spain's Fon has added 30,000 U.S. hot spots to its 12 million free Wi-Fi hook-ups around the world after signing a roaming agreement with AT&T that opens the global Fon network to AT&T's subscribers. In getting a toehold in the U.S. market, Fon has provided its customers with their first crack at U.S. hot spots. Fon's members share each other's Wi-Fi connections. The company hopes to expand its U.S. network by signing up more carriers eager to unload traffic off their cellular networks.
