IATA forecasts airline profits in 2013

Profits for North American airlines will increase to $4.9 billion, up from a previous forecast of $4.4 billion, according to a forecast by the International Air Transport Association. IATA also predicts a "significant boost" to growth in 2014, as cargo demand and consumer confidence both improve.
