Lawmakers are urged to promote better interoperability

The health care industry is lobbying lawmakers to ensure that there are common standards for EHR systems and seamless data sharing to enhance interoperability. "If you think about it, interoperability and health information exchanges are fundamental to health reform," John Loonsk of CGI said at a policy conference. But that's just the top of the to-do list, as EHR advocates also want a national plan for better patient identification and higher quality reporting mandates, Kenneth Corbin writes.
