Many youths get cigarettes and alcohol from family, friends

More than 50% of smokers in grades seven to 12, including 73% of females, reported getting their last cigarette from a friend or a member of the family, Canadian researchers reported Tuesday. Among underage drinkers, 39% of them said someone provided them with alcoholic drinks, and just 6% reported getting the drinks from a liquor store.
