Mich. wines rise to recognition on national stage

Michigan has become one of the largest wine-producing states in the country over the past decade, with more than 100 wineries throughout the state, and its wineries are finally starting to be recognized on a national scale by professionals, competitions and even restaurants in New York, said Chris Cook, chief restaurant critic and wine writer for Hour Detroit. The variety of soil and climate in the state's regions allow for the production of unique wines, said Cook.
