Report: Barnett Shale gas production could be sustained for decades

Production from some of the natural gas wells in the Barnett Shale formation in Texas can be sustained for at least four more decades, despite falling output from the play since 2011 and the decline in the number of rigs, a University of Texas study determined. Drilled blocks in the play are estimated to hold approximately 45 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas, the report stated.
