S.C. district's speech therapists, preschoolers work on language skills

Preschool students who receive speech services through the Aiken County School District in South Carolina often take half-day classes in which they participate in productive play and work on language skills through songs and games with their therapists. "I was seeing a pattern of weakness in vocabulary and communication. We felt they needed more consistency, reinforcing their skills on a daily basis," said Michelle Stanford, the district's speech-services coordinator.
