Springlike fibers provide a boost for cardiac cells

Cardiac tissue developed by scientists now can get an assist with their pumping action from springlike fibers developed by researchers at Tel Aviv University's Department of Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology and the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, according to this article. The new fibers demonstrate improved elasticity over the straight fibers previously used to support the contracting cells.
